Paulette (Polly) R. Miller, CPA, CVA

Paulette R. Miller, CPA, CVA

Polly is the president of Miller & Associates, P.C. Prior to opening Miller & Associates, P.C. in 1987, she was a partner at Wright, Griffin, Davis and Company (now Rehmann) for 12 years. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University. In addition to being a CPA in the State of Michigan, Polly expanded her qualifications by becoming a CPA in Florida in 1993, and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) in 1997.

Polly specializes in business valuations, property settlements in divorces, business and tax planning, and has testified as an expert witness on multiple occasions. She is very active in the community, taking positions on numerous committees and councils.

When she finds the time to get away from the office Polly loves travel, most recently visiting Hawaii for the first time.

Janice (Jan) L. Stevens Horwood, CPA

Janice L. Stevens Horwood, CPA

Jan is the vice president of Miller & Associates, P.C. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Cleary Business College in 1980, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1983. After working at Wright, Griffin, Davis and Company for 7 years, she opened Miller & Associates, P.C. alongside Polly in 1987.

Jan specializes in individual and corporate taxation, as well as estates and trusts. Jan serves as the treasurer of her local church in Ypsilanti, where she is also the pianist/organist. Jan and her husband Mike reside in Milan in a home that they both designed and built.

Patsy R. Aiken, CPA

Patsy R. Aiken, CPA

Patsy joined the firm in 2000. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Accounting Information Systems and has 19 years of experience in helping clients understand and manage their businesses. Patsy works primarily with small to medium size, closely owned businesses, and high-tech startup companies.

Her expertise includes governmental grant/contract accounting, business startup advising, and tax planning and preparation. Her clientele includes many High-tech and Bio-medical startup companies as well as companies new to funding from governmental contracts/grants.

Patsy assists clients in understanding and support of the government audit oversight process, including SBIR/STTR Program, DCAA audit requirements and Indirect cost rates. She provides FAR & DFARS compliance support and analysis, and has been an instructor in governmental grant and contract management seminars.

Robert M. Horwood, CPA

Robert M. Horwood, CPA

Robert received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in accounting, from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2007. He began working as a staff accountant at Miller & Associates, P.C. the same year.

Rob currently specializes in tax return preparation, new business development, and is a 2012/2013 QuickBooks Pro Advisor. With a background in the IT industry, Rob works as the in-house IT specialist, and has been in charge of redesigning the Miller & Associates, P.C. website.

When not working, Rob enjoys taking trips to 'The Big House', where he loves to cheer on the Maize and Blue. Rob and his wife Sarah welcomed their first child, son Landon, in February of 2012.

Steve Herzog, CPA

Steve Herzog, CPA

Steve has a Masters in Taxation from Walsh College, a Masters in Accounting from Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University. He specializes in tax preparation and review.

Steve serves on the board of directors of his condominium homeowners' association, and enjoys spending time with his parents, who recently relocated to Ann Arbor.

Matthew Wilkins, Staff Accountant

Matthew Wilkins, Staff Accountant

Matt graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and received his Master's degree in Accounting in 2009. He has been working full-time in accounting since 2007 and specializes in assisting clients with monthly, quarterly and annual accounting, tax return preparation, and QuickBooks consulting.

Matt is an alumni and is still involved in Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity — Gamma Iota Chapter and joined the Ann Arbor Jaycees in 2012. He enjoys supporting local businesses, attending local Farmers Markets and attends various local entertainment venues.

Lina Daniel, Staff Accountant

Lina graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, major in Accounting. She joined Miller & Associates in August of 2013 and assists clients with monthly, quarterly and annual accounting. She also helps out in the Payroll Department.

In her spare time, Lina enjoys spending time with her family, exercising and traveling.

Claudia Bristol, Staff Accountant

Claudia graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Summa Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan University and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1985. She then became the Controller of Barton Hills Country Club from which she retired after 26 years of service.

After retirement, she joined Miller & Associates, P.C. on a part-time basis in 2012, allowing her the opportunity to continue to utilize her experience yet still have the time to enjoy traveling and her family and five grandchildren who reside in Chelsea.

Judy Robertson, Client Accounting Liason

Judy has been with Miller & Associates, P.C. from the day the doors opened in 1987. With excellent client accounting, and interpersonal skills, over the years Judy has built strong relationships with many Miller & Associates, P.C. clients. It is for this reason that Judy continues to work on the client accounting for a select few, even into her retirement.

Ian Phillips, Accounting Intern

Ian Phillips, Accounting Intern

Ian earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting at Central Michigan University in May of 2013. He is currently working towards his Master's Degree from CMU with plans to graduate in December of 2014. He joined Miller & Associates, P.C. during the 2014 tax season to expand his accounting and tax knowledge.

During his free time, he enjoys playing racquetball over the winter months and ultimate Frisbee in the spring and summer months. Other hobbies include chess and weight lifting.

Kathy has over 25 years of executive administrative experience. She has been working at Miller & Associates, P.C. since 2007. Prior to coming to Miller & Associates, P.C., Kathy worked for the Federal government, Ford Motor Company and Eastern Michigan University.

Jennifer Zeller-Vanepps, Office Administration

With a history in office administration, Jennifer quickly adapted to the fast-paced work environment of Miller & Associates upon joining the team at the start of the 2013 tax season. She provides excellent customer service, and is most likely one of the first faces you'll see upon arriving at our office.

Jennifer graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in public relations. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
